I met Dorothy at Belhus swimming pool some 20 years ago.

She was the most positive, amusing and interesting person and always faced adversity with a fierce determination. 

When she retired from swimming we enjoyed seeing her for Birthday and Christmas lunches.

Joan (Auguste) and I used to visit her and were regaled with interesting tales of her early youth, war experiences,

nursing and life as a married mother. We always felt Dorothy should write a book but we were privileged to read her copious notes on visits she had made abroad.

It has been an inspiration and a privilege to know Dorothy for only a part of her long and interesting life.
