In 2000 I started swimming at Belhus Pool , where I met Dorothy.

Dorothy told me that following a car accident she had suffered a back injury and had been told by the doctors that she would be in a wheelchair in a couple of years, they obviously didn’t know Dorothy!

She started swimming to strengthen her back and swam 5 mornings oer week, always there on the dot at 7am when they opened and just got on with her life.

We formed a friendship group of ladies and met socially on a regular basis.

Dorothy was always full of stories, some funny and some sad and she was always a very interesting lady to be with.

Her strength and determination throughout her life never ceased to amaze me and whenever I feel life is  tough I think ‘what would Dorothy do?’

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have had Dorothy in my life and I shall treasure the memories.
